DEBORAH ROSE GREEN

Young Author, Poet and Dreamer!

Mother Earth's Army

Mother Earth of blue and green clings to the cliffside.
With fingers bruised and eyes wide, she’s terrified.
Metal chains pull her down into the dark abyss.
I take her hand and bless her with a gentle kiss.
I strain with all the strength of my little human soul
And it isn’t me but hope that takes complete control.
A hand rests on my shoulder and I feel their smile.
Together we can do this. We can run another mile.
They sit down beside me and take Mother’s other hand.
And soon we have an army fighting for our land.
Mother’s eyes shine with emotion and she fights the evil too.
With our support she’ll make it. Our strength will get her through.

Hi Deborah,
Thank you very much for submitting your poem, we think it's absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, it probably isn't the right fit for our theme this time around - For this collection, we're looking more for poetry on protection from mother nature, rather than protection for mother nature. However, the poem itself is great, and you should certainly be proud of your writing! We'd love to hear from you again in the future, and you're welcome to send us other writing!
Kind regards,
Green Ink Poetry
